Tutors and Management
Personal Tutors
Personal tutors act as advisors and mentors, and directly encourage students to reach their full potential. Personal tutors review students’ project work, and hold the picture of the student’s developing capacities over the entire Programme. Personal tutors encourage the development of project work as well as all communication competencies, written, artistic or spoken, and identify and address any skill deficiencies.
Each student, in all Programmes, is assigned a Personal Tutor who follows the student throughout the duration of his or her Project experience.
Participatory Management
Students meet weekly in a facilitated review meeting based on the principles of Deep Democracy. The purpose of these meetings is to conduct college business, discuss and decide course offerings, and address any social issues that arise. Student and tutor collaboration is a key element in the working of the Project, which has evolved through students wishing to take more responsibility for their educational experience. Through this sustained dialogue, students find their way to understanding a variety of adult perspectives as well as evolving their own.
Students are also primarily responsible for the Stewardship of the campus facilities, including cleaning, maintenance and gardening. These activities are tutor-led, and considered meaningful educational opportunities.
